Let us begin with a question, do you consider yourself fit and fine? If yes, well and good, kudos to you. If not, what’s your excuse?

For those of us lazy souls out there, we can find plenty of excuses to skip workouts or lead a sluggish lifestyle. You had a headache, you were too tired, felt under the weather, your 9 to 5 job kept you busy, and the list goes on. While health issues make a valid reason, a 9 to 5 job does not exactly. Just so you know, fitness is not an impossible goal to achieve even when you are working your 9-to-5 job.

You can still stay fit and fine if you want to. We will be telling you how.

Walk during your breaks

Who doesn’t like breaks? We all do, especially when we have been sitting for hours in front of our laptops. As much as breaks are important, how you spend them is equally important. If your goal is to stay fit and fine, and not harm your eyes, going for a short walk is a much better idea than scrolling down Instagram.

A short walk can give your eyes a break, freshen you up, straighten your back, boost your metabolism and benefit your overall health. In a nutshell, it is a much healthy utilization of your break time than spending it on gadgets that strain your eyes.

Park at a distance or take the long way

Going along the same lines, it’s a good idea to add steps to your day. You can take short walks during your breaks, as mentioned above, or you can park your vehicle at a distance. This will make you walk extra, benefitting your health. You can even walk while you take calls. Remember, drops make an ocean. These extra steps that you take will make a difference and benefit your health in the long run.

Strength training

Do you wish there was a way to burn fat while you were sitting? After all, sitting at our desks all day creates a sluggish lifestyle we wish to escape.

Turns out, there is a way to burn fat at rest – all thanks to strength training. Strength training involves exercises that strengthen and tone your muscles by contracting them against a resisting force. The result is, you burn calories both during and after your workout – for hours – even when you are sitting at your desk.

Make the most of your after hours

When we say this, we do not mean lying on your bed scrolling your phone after you come back from the office. If you cannot lead an active lifestyle during your work hours, you can compensate for the same after work. This means, getting your body moving, and exercising when you get back home.

Working out in the morning might not be a convenient option for everybody – especially those who hate waking up early and those rushing to work every morning. Evening or night workouts are the best for this category of people – you have nowhere to be, so you have all the time for a workout or a long walk.

Take care of your nutrition

Health does not only come from activities and workouts, it also comes from nutrition. It’s very common for somebody who works all day to give little attention to nutrition. As you head outside of home, you may frequently have junk food, or eat nothing at all because you are too occupied. But this is when you have to take a moment and focus on nutrition. After all, your body deserves good nutritious food to work better and live better.

So, make it a goal to limit junk food, pack nutritious meals and keep healthy snacks such as fruits to fuel your body with the right nutrition. Remember to have them on time. The last thing your body wants is to skip a meal.

Bottom line

A 9 to 5 job can make it difficult for you to focus on your fitness and health. However, it’s all about finding time and prioritizing. We sincerely hope that these tips help you. If you are reading this blog in a workspace, let this be a reminder for you to take a short walk or eat something healthy. Remember, fitness starts with you. It is necessary for your well-being and of those around you.
