Introduction
Every year on the 17th of May, World Hypertension Day is observed around the world. It aims to make people aware of the deadly consequences of hypertension or high blood pressure, a global health problem.
In the year 2019, around ten million deaths were recorded because of high blood pressure.
People suffering from hypertension are often not aware and well informed about it.
Lack of information and awareness can lead to a host of life-threatening medical conditions, such as heart attacks, kidney failure, or stroke.
Dementia and arrhythmia are some other chronic conditions which are caused by hypertension.
World Hypertension Day motivates us to keep our blood pressure in check and make the necessary dietary and lifestyle changes as preventive means to avoid hypertension-related complications.
Theme and significance of World Hypertension Day
This year the theme for World Hypertension Day is “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer”.
The theme addresses the use of accurate methods to measure blood pressure. It also focuses on putting light on low awareness rates about hypertension, especially in middle and low-income countries.
As reported by the WHO (World Health Organization), approximately 46% of adults around the world are not aware that they themselves are troubled by hypertension.
World Health Organization has pledged to reduce widespread disease by 33 per cent between 2010 and 2030. This increased level of awareness is expected to significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney damage.
In the contemporary world Remedios approach (remedy or help) is followed where actions are taken after the issue arises, while in older times, a preventive approach was followed which helped in living a tension free life for a longer period of time.
Below are some easy holistic tips you can follow to lead a happy and healthy life. You can also avoid hypertension and blood pressure issues using these approaches.

The right way to perform meditation is, you should sit in a quiet place with your eyes closed and focus on your breathing.
Then, chant “OM” or any other holy mantra. Practice this for at least 10 to 15 minutes a day. You can increase the time as you become comfortable and habitual at it.
Initially, many thoughts are going to cross your mind, but you need to be consistent with this practice.
The focus is going to be to make your blood pressure normal. Meditation has shown a wonderful impact on people’s lives and has made their mental health better.

Some of these asanas include Uttanasana or standing forward bend pose, Viparita Karani or legs-up-the-wall pose, Adho Mukha Svanasana or downward-facing dog, Paschimottanasana or seated forward bend pose and Setubandhasana or bridge pose. Regular practise of these asanas in daily life helps in keeping blood pressure under check.

These crystals can be carried in a pocket or wallet or worn as jewellery. Make sure you select the crystal based on your date of birth so that this therapy leaves a positive impact on your life.

Sound therapy is a modern method to reduce the issue of hypertension. In sound therapy, neurotechnologies such as high-resolution, relational, resonance-based, electro-encephalic mirroring or HIRREM are used to analyze brain activity.
Brain activities are read through scalp sensors. According to the researchers, people who took the sound therapy have experienced a reduction in their blood pressure and migraine symptoms.
